Choosing a career can be a tough thing to do especially with all the influence from others. Many times, children are led from a very early age to believe that some careers are better than others. Some careers are believed to lead to better lives and people are led to believe that people holding these jobs or having these careers have more prestige within the community.
As it is, many of the youngsters will therefore strive to study hard with their minds set on achieving the necessary qualifications for these ‘top jobs”.
There are many disadvantages that usually arise from this. One of the obvious disadvantages is that many children will study focused on the same jobs and the job market will get saturated with people with skills in the same field. The available jobs will not be able to cater for all the qualified people and therefore many will end up unemployed.
Another problem of advocating for children to study for specific careers is the fact that the children will not have the freedom to choose to study for careers which they like and careers where they are likely to excel in much more.
For example, many children are not encouraged to focus their studies in fields that they love naturally or to strive to get careers in fields in which they are naturally talented in.
A major field that is usually not well advertised to children is music. Children are not told how they can lead successful careers in music. Music is many times considered a leisure activity and many parents actually discourage their children to shun anything to do with music and instead focus on studying for other careers.
Music offers a lot in terms of providing careers. Musically talented individuals can have very successful careers in areas such as singing. There are many musicians who have made great impact by being great singers and they have lived long happy lives. One could also pursue a musical career in playing musical instruments. This could be as a solo artist or in a group. One can also have a musical career by teaching music. This could be in terms of teaching others to play musical instruments, singing, or general musical knowledge.
Other careers in music include being a Disc Jockey, sound productions, composing, and music conducting.
One does not have to be musically talented to be able to have a career in music. For example, one can have a musical career that involves the production and distribution of musical instruments. Apart from selling the instruments there are also other musical equipment such as amplifiers, synthesizers, mixers, hoofers, speakers, equalizers, and many more.
Musical careers like any career can be very successful depending on the input of the individual. However, when it comes to the skills that require talent, it is obvious that the more talented individuals will have an upper hand. However, even when one is talented, one needs to still put in hard work to ensure that the skills are constantly polished.
